INCO-WELD 686CPT
INCO-WELD 686CPT is a high-performance nickel-based filler metal alloyed with chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten, designed to deliver exceptional corrosion resistance in the harshest chemical processing and marine environments. Specifically engineered for Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), this alloy is an optimal choice for joining and overlaying advanced materials that demand superior resistance to aggressive media.
This alloy is ideally suited for welding a wide range of corrosion-resistant base metals, including duplex and super-duplex stainless steels, super-austenitic stainless steels, and high-nickel alloys such as UNS N06022, N06059, and INCONEL Alloys 625, 686, and C-276. Its advanced metallurgical composition ensures structural integrity, even under high thermal stress and in severely corrosive service.
The superior blend of chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo), and tungsten (W) in INCO-WELD 686CPT provides robust protection against localized corrosion phenomena—such as pitting and crevice corrosion—as well as uniform corrosion. It performs exceptionally well in environments containing hot, concentrated acid chlorides, oxidizing chloride solutions, and mixed acid systems, which are commonly found in chemical processing, power generation, offshore, and marine industries.
In addition to its joining capabilities, INCO-WELD 686CPT by Special Metals is widely used for weld overlay and cladding applications on carbon and low-alloy steels, offering a cost-effective solution to upgrade corrosion resistance and extend equipment life in corrosive environments.
